The academy instructor who became one of Naruto's first genuine bonds with the Hidden Leaf. Iruka is not a battlefield monster and Shippuden does not pretend otherwise. His importance comes from continuity: before Naruto had mentors, teammates, legendary parents or an entire alliance depending on him, Iruka was the adult who recognized the lonely child underneath the troublemaker. That relationship remains one of the simplest measures of how far Naruto has come and of the home he is actually fighting to protect.
