Profile

Founded June 13, 2001 by "sol," an offshoot of the influential early group BakaMX. Live-eviL maintained a strict drop-on-license policy from day one, confirmed directly on the group's own history page, dropping eX-Driver after four episodes once it was licensed, and abandoning a planned Hikaru no Go release after realizing they couldn't compete with larger groups already covering it. The group's defining moment came in 2003 with Wolf's Rain, where a Tokyo raw provider and a German-based translator working on dial-up internet achieved 18-to-26-hour turnaround from Japanese broadcast to English release, effectively inventing the "speedsub" as a competitive category.

Signature style

Founded by "sol," a member of BakaMX's IRC channel, who split off to start his own group. First release was eX-Driver episode 1 in September 2001, an admittedly rough 320x240 divx4 encode the group's own history page calls "laughable." Went on to define the speedsub era with 18-to-26-hour turnarounds on Wolf's Rain in 2003, powered by a Tokyo-based raw provider and a translator working off a 44k dial-up connection in Germany.
