Details & Synopsis
Ichigo Kurosaki is a 15-year-old high school student who can see ghosts. That is his normal until he meets Rukia Kuchiki, a Soul Reaper, and ends up absorbing her powers to save his family from a monstrous soul-devouring Hollow.

Bleach is the definition of 2000s drip. Alongside Naruto and One Piece, it formed the legendary "Big Three" of shonen anime. The Soul Society arc remains one of the greatest, most flawlessly paced rescue arcs in anime history. The soundtrack by Shiro Sagisu is iconic. The sheer style and swagger of Tite Kubo's character designs set a standard that an entire generation of artists tried to copy.

Yes, there are massive filler arcs (we all remember the Bounts). Skip them if you have to. But when Bleach's canon material hits, with those slow-burn Bankai reveals, it hits harder than almost anything else from its era. 366 episodes of pure, unfiltered spiritual warfare.

The Lost Agent & Fullbring

Seventeen Months Without Shinigami Power

Episodes 343–346 · New Chapter

The Lost Agent arc begins by giving Ichigo something the earlier series rarely allowed: time as an ordinary high-school student. He can still sense traces of the supernatural, but he cannot step into the fights the way he once did. Ginjo's arrival works because he offers exactly what Ichigo has been pretending he no longer needs: a path back to being able to protect people himself.

Xcution Teaches Ichigo a Different Kind of Power

Episodes 346–354

Fullbring shifts the power system away from Zanpakutō releases and into attachments to physical objects. Ichigo's Substitute Shinigami badge becomes the focus of his training, which is fitting: the object that once proved his connection to Soul Society becomes the tool for rebuilding power without Soul Society. The arc feels smaller than Aizen's war because the threat is aimed directly at Ichigo's identity rather than the fate of multiple worlds.

Book of the End Turns Friends Into Evidence Against Ichigo

SPOILER!

Episodes 357–360

Tsukishima's ability is devastating because it enters the past of the people he cuts and inserts him into relationships that feel completely real to them. Ichigo watches friends and family defend the person he knows is attacking them, leaving him unable to trust the memories around him. It is one of Bleach's most personal threats because no amount of sword strength can prove that your version of the past is the true one.

Rukia's Sword Restores the Substitute Shinigami

SPOILER!

Episodes 361–362

The reversal of the arc arrives through the same relationship that began the series. Rukia strikes Ichigo with a sword carrying spiritual power contributed by Soul Society's captains and officers, restoring his Shinigami abilities. The moment matters because the institution that once sentenced Rukia for giving power to a human now chooses to give that human power deliberately. Ichigo's relationship with Soul Society has changed the institution as much as it changed him.

The First Substitute Shinigami Shows Ichigo the Part Soul Society Hid

SPOILER!

Episodes 365–366

Ginjo's final argument is not that every friendship Ichigo built was false. It is that Soul Society monitored Substitute Shinigami through the badge and never told Ichigo the whole truth about the role. Ichigo defeats him without pretending that revelation is meaningless. The original 366-episode run ends with Ichigo choosing his relationship with Soul Society knowingly rather than because he still believes it is uncomplicated.
