The stubborn, cynical sovereign leader of the Hidden Stone Village who navigates the battlefield with chronic back alignment failures and decades of bitter wartime experience. Wielding the exceptionally rare Particle Style selection, his advanced chakra concentration allows him to manifest localized geometric fields that completely atomize physical matter at a molecular level. He initially views the younger generation with open disdain until Sasuke's reckless assault on the summit forces him to unleash his absolute molecular authority.

Obito does not declare the Fourth Shinobi World War because the Five Great Nations invade Akatsuki territory. He declares it after the Kage refuse to surrender Naruto and Killer B, the two remaining jinchūriki he still needs for the Eye of the Moon Plan. The war begins as a demand for two people and immediately forces villages with generations of hostility to decide whether protecting them is worth fighting together.
What changed
The Five Kage Summit was supposed to coordinate a response to Akatsuki. It ends by creating something the shinobi world had never sustained before: a military alliance of the major villages against a common enemy.
Former Enemies · Shared Headbands · A Single Command Structure
The alliance is more radical than simply putting five armies on the same map. Shinobi who were raised under different village doctrines, fought in earlier wars, and in some cases personally hated one another are reorganized under a shared command structure. The old village symbols do not disappear, but for the duration of the war they stop being the most important identity on the battlefield.
Why it matters
Akatsuki spent years exploiting the distrust between villages. The war forces those same villages to pool intelligence, manpower and leadership quickly enough that old political divisions cannot be allowed to decide battlefield decisions.

Sasuke crashed the neutral summit to assassinate Danzo, engaging Raikage A's Lightning Armor, Mei's Acid Mist, and Onoki's Particle Style in rapid succession.
The Breakdown
Sasuke evolved Susanoo into its armored Tengu stage to survive A's Guillotine Drop, but was nearly atomized by Onoki before Tobi (Obito) materialized via Kamui to extract Sasuke into the space-time dimension.
Fourth Shinobi War Saga · Desert Battlefield · Fourth Division Victory
The Fourth Division is forced to fight resurrected former Kage whose techniques and personal histories are known best by the leaders now facing them, turning the desert front into a battle against the previous generation itself.
The Breakdown
Gaara overcomes his reanimated father Rasa and later helps contain the Second Mizukage while Ōnoki confronts Mū; the Third Raikage's separate battle is not part of this ledger entry.
Fourth Shinobi War Saga · Wasteland Frontline · Absolute Madara Domination
Reanimated Madara challenged the Five Kage simultaneously, effortlessly countering Onoki's Particle Style, Gaara's Sand, and Mei's Lava Style with Hashirama Wood Release and his awakened Rinnegan.
The Breakdown
Madara summoned twenty-five Wood Clones, assigning five Susanoo-armored clones to each individual Kage to mock their authority. When the Kage pushed back, Madara stabilized his Perfect Susanoo, shattering their morale and leaving them near death.
