Blood+ · Supporting

The father. Adoptive, former military, the man who built the family Saya woke up inside of. George is the show's opening argument that found family is real and worth everything. He does not have long. What he represents to all three of his children runs through the rest of the series as a weight the show keeps returning to long after he is gone. Blood+ earns its emotional stakes in the first handful of episodes and George is the reason.

The Miyagusuku Family Is Not a Fake Life

Open →
Saya's year in Okinawa happens during amnesia, but Blood+ never treats the love built there as false just because her older memories return.

George is her father. Kai and Riku are her brothers. The later revelation of what Saya is adds history without cancelling those relationships.
Why it matters
The series keeps separating origin from belonging. Saya's blood can tell her where she came from. It cannot tell her where home is.

George Gives Saya a Home Before Anyone Gives Her a Mission

Open →
George knows more about Red Shield and Saya's past than his children initially understand, but the life he gives Saya in Okinawa is not just surveillance.

He raises her as his daughter.
Why it matters
George's most important contribution to the war is something Red Shield cannot manufacture: Saya wakes into a family before she wakes into duty.
