Yukito is Toya's gentle, endlessly hungry best friend and the person Sakura can barely speak normally around for much of the series. The truth is considerably stranger: Yukito is the human form of Yue, the moon-aligned guardian created by Clow Reed to judge the person chosen to inherit the Cards. Yukito initially has no awareness of Yue, while Yue is reserved, severe and deeply attached to the memory of Clow. Their shared existence becomes increasingly dangerous once Sakura replaces Clow as the source of their magic, forcing Toya to sacrifice his own power so that both Yukito and Yue can continue to live.
