MASAKI AMAMIYA SPOILER!

The elderly man Sakura befriends during a family vacation seems at first to be nothing more than a kind stranger living nearby. He is actually Masaki Amamiya, Nadeshiko's grandfather and therefore Sakura and Toya's maternal great-grandfather. Masaki once opposed Nadeshiko's marriage to Fujitaka, but meeting Sakura gives him a chance to reconnect with the family through the great-granddaughter who reminds him so strongly of her mother. Sakura never fully understands who he is during their first meeting, making their shared tea, tennis and rainbow a quiet reconciliation she does not realize she is helping create.
