Danzo Shimura leads Root, the secret organization that takes the Leaf's willingness to make ugly choices and turns it into a governing philosophy. He believes emotion, transparency and Hiruzen's softer approach have made Konoha vulnerable, so he spends decades operating outside normal oversight while insisting everything is for the village. After Pain's attack he moves closer than ever to the Hokage seat and represents the Leaf at the Five Kage Summit. Danzo's body hides the scale of his methods: an arm implanted with multiple Sharingan and Shisui Uchiha's eye, which he uses to influence Mifune. Sasuke eventually corners him, forcing Danzo through repeated uses of Izanagi before the Root leader dies trying to take Sasuke and Obito with him.

Izanagi is terrifying because it converts the Sharingan itself into a limited stock of impossible survivals. For a short period, the user can reject injuries and even death as illusion, but the eye that sustains the technique closes permanently when the effect ends. Danzō's arm of transplanted Sharingan turns that normally singular sacrifice into a repeatable combat resource.
Why it matters
The technique's cost is the safeguard. Danzō's body-hacking matters because he industrializes a kinjutsu that was never meant to be used over and over in the same fight.
The transplanted Senju tissue improves Danzō's use; it is not the basic definition of the technique.
Danzō's version encourages the idea that Izanagi is simply a Sharingan-plus-Hashirama-cells recipe. The Uchiha already possessed Izanagi as a forbidden ocular art. Danzō's Senju tissue helps his non-Uchiha body manage multiple Sharingan and sustain the extreme strain of repeatedly using them.
Why it matters
The enhancement and the technique are separate pieces. Danzō's arm explains why his implementation is abnormal, not why Izanagi exists at all.

As Danzō flees the summit with his two Root bodyguards, Obito intercepts the group and forces Fū and Torune to hold him off while Danzō prepares for Sasuke.
The Breakdown
Fū and Torune quickly deduce the timing weakness in Kamui, and Torune's nano-scale insects contaminate Obito's arm when he makes contact; Obito discards the affected arm, exploits the opening created by their counterattack, and removes both men with Kamui.

Sasuke confronted Danzo on the bridge, forcing Danzo to unleash his arm embedded with ten Sharingan eyes to repeatedly execute Izanagi, rewriting his deaths in real time.
The Breakdown
Sasuke tracked the timer on Danzo's closing eyes, casting a subtle genjutsu that made Danzo believe his last Izanagi eye was still open. When Danzo attempted to tank a Chidori Spear, the strike pierced his heart fatally.
