Death Note · The Second Kira / Devoted Accomplice

A hyper visible pop idol and model whose life was permanently refocused after Kira executed the criminal responsible for her parents' murders. Driven by a blinding, uncritical devotion to her savior, she acquires her own notebook and sacrifices half her lifespan for the Shinigami eyes to aid his cause. Her bubbly, chaotic exterior masks a deeply tragic vulnerability and a lethal capability, allowing herself to be weaponized completely as an instrument for Light's grand designs.

Gelus Dies Saving Misa · Rem Delivers What He Leaves Behind

Gelus dies after using his Death Note to save Misa's life. Rem witnesses his death, takes the notebook he leaves behind and later gives that notebook to Misa. Misa therefore enters the story with a Death Note whose previous owner died specifically because he cared about her.
Why it matters
Misa's notebook is tied to protection before she ever writes in it. That history follows her into Rem's decisions and eventually into the notebook's later owners.

Gelus's Notebook Eventually Reaches Teru Mikami

Misa's First Notebook · X-Kira's Real Weapon

The notebook that began with Gelus and passed through Rem to Misa eventually becomes the real Death Note used in Light's X-Kira arrangement with Teru Mikami. By this point the object has outlived Gelus, passed through Misa's ownership and become part of a plan built around keeping Light physically separated from Kira's killings.
Why it matters
The final trap is built around which notebook Near thinks Mikami has and where the real one is actually kept. The notebook's history matters because the endgame is an ownership and substitution puzzle as much as an identity puzzle.
