Xia Yu Fan is Yu Lan's twin sister and the more visible Arm Slave threat in the second half of The Second Raid. After her sister's death, Yu Fan rejects Amalgam's attempts to control the situation and carries out Gauron's plan in Hong Kong, using a Shadow Arm Slave to create destruction that will draw Sosuke toward him. Her actions are driven by loyalty to her sister and teacher rather than any belief in Amalgam's larger goals. That distinction matters because Gates wants her eliminated almost as much as Mithril wants the crisis stopped. Yu Fan's rampage turns Hong Kong into the place where Sosuke's military obligations, guilt over Kaname and history with Gauron all collide at once.
