Bunta is the structural architect of Takumi's driving genius, covertly tuning the AE86 and orchestrating grueling delivery loops to force his son into subconscious master-class tire management. Unflappable to a terrifying degree, Bunta is a phantom who can casually slide a high-output Subaru Impreza around a blind, rain-slicked mountain hairpin completely sideways with one hand on the steering wheel while casually lighting a cigarette.

The 86 is not secretly unbeatable. Its greatest First Stage advantage is that Takumi knows exactly how it moves on the road where most of his important battles happen.
Bunta's water-cup rule punishes abrupt acceleration, braking and cornering because sudden movement sends the water out of the cup.
