Sixteen years old, martial artist trained from birth, arrogant in the specific way that people are arrogant when they are genuinely the best at the thing they are being arrogant about. Fell into the Jusenkyo spring of drowned girl during a training trip with his father and now transforms into a red-haired girl when splashed with cold water. Hot water reverses it. This is not ideal. Ranma adapts to his curse, exploits it tactically when the situation calls for it, and refuses to be defined by it even as it defines practically every situation he stumbles into. Engaged to Akane Tendo by parental arrangement he despises loudly and would dismantle immediately except that he would also do absolutely anything for her, which the show understands and deploys constantly.
