Akane's father and operator of the Tendo dojo, which he runs alongside his grief. His wife died years ago and Soun has been held together by his daughters and his absolute certainty that the arranged marriage between Ranma and Akane will preserve the Tendo school of Anything Goes Martial Arts. Cries constantly and with full commitment. Genuinely warm, entirely ineffective at managing any situation that develops under his roof, which is a significant problem since the entire series takes place under his roof. His friendship with Genma is the most destructive partnership in the show and both of them are too invested in it to notice.
