Heir to the Tendo dojo. Skilled martial artist who was the best in her school until Ranma arrived and she has not forgiven him for this, or for being engaged to her, or for a running catalogue of other offenses she maintains with impressive dedication. Short-tempered, stubborn, genuinely kind underneath both of those things in ways she expresses badly. Her cooking is a recurring hazard the show returns to with the commitment of a running gag that has also genuinely injured people. Her feelings for Ranma are obvious to everyone in Nerima except the two people most directly involved. Akane is the emotional center of Ranma 1/2. Everything funny and everything genuinely affecting runs through her.
