Amick Hendar is the chief of Second Earth's Education Station, responsible for the harsh conditioning used to turn survivors into soldiers capable of fighting the Blue. Marlene is one of the people shaped by that system, and Amick embodies the institutional belief that hesitation, attachment and softness are liabilities humanity can no longer afford. She is practical rather than theatrical about it, treating emotional suppression as part of military preparation. Later, when Seno Miyagi takes control and begins making decisions that threaten the station's remaining population, Amick does not simply transfer her loyalty to the new regime. She opposes his direction and tries to leave Second Earth, showing that her commitment has always been to survival as she understands it rather than to any particular leader.
