Heero is the pilot sent from Colony L1 as part of Operation Meteor, trained from childhood to treat infiltration, sabotage and mobile suit combat as ordinary work. That explains a lot about the boy who tears up Relena's birthday invitation, tells her he will kill her and then somehow keeps turning up in her life anyway. He pilots Wing Gundam and later Wing Zero with the same frightening willingness to sacrifice himself if the mission requires it. The fun of Heero is that the emotionless super-soldier act never quite holds. He repeatedly protects people he claims are irrelevant, makes choices that go beyond his orders and slowly develops a life outside the mission he was built to complete. He rarely says what he feels, so Gundam Wing makes you watch what he does instead.
