The more refined of the Valentine brothers. Sent with Jan to assault Hellsing headquarters. Controlled, precise, genuinely convinced of his own standing relative to Alucard. The show has a specific and efficient answer to that conviction. His role in the HQ attack is to provide the shape of a threat before the chaos his brother brings behind him.

Luke and Jan Valentine attack Hellsing headquarters with an armed ghoul force and nearly erase the organization's manpower in one night. Walter and Seras hold the building while Integra faces the attack at command level. Luke goes upstairs looking for the strongest opponent in the house and finds Alucard, who answers by releasing more of his restrained power. Jan reaches the Round Table but dies without giving Hellsing a clean explanation of who sent them. The victory leaves the organization alive and gutted.

Luke's confidence makes sense right up until Alucard stops indulging him. He is fast, capable and far beyond the disposable artificial vampires Hellsing has been killing. Then Alucard releases more of what the restrictions keep contained. The fight works because Luke is strong enough to reveal the gap rather than weak enough to be a joke.
