The 2001 anime begins separating sharply from the unfinished manga material and builds its own final enemy in Incognito. The FREAK-chip investigation, compromised British forces and the attack on Hellsing all converge on an occult endgame at the Tower of London. Incognito belongs specifically to this television continuity, which is exactly why he matters here: he is the answer GONZO created when thirteen episodes needed an ending before the manga had one.

The ninth episode is not a dockside duel with Incognito. Hellsing is pulled into a castle operation where the arrival of SAS forces immediately feels wrong, while a woman claiming to be Integra's sister Laura infiltrates the Hellsing estate. Seras and Alucard expose the impostor as a supernatural attacker, and the castle force is compromised as well. The episode matters because the Incognito arc stops looking like scattered vampire cases and starts looking like coordinated penetration of British institutions.
Episode 13 · Hellfire · Tower of London
Incognito finally meets Alucard at the Tower of London after the Hellsing Organization has been declared an enemy and London has become the stage for the conspiracy's last move. Incognito can survive Alucard's normal weapons and pushes him harder than any earlier opponent in the television series. Alucard turns the battlefield itself into the answer, melting a large silver cross and using the silver as the weapon that finishes the fight. The ending belongs specifically to the 2001 anime.

Episode 9
The false Laura attacks Integra inside her own home while the castle operation is corrupted from the outside. That combination tells Hellsing what kind of enemy it is facing: one willing to attack identity, perception and institutional trust before committing to open force.
Episode 13 · Hellfire
Incognito survives enough of Alucard's normal arsenal to make the finale feel different from the early hunts. The fight ends with Alucard converting a huge silver cross into the weapon that can finally pin and destroy him. It is theatrical, strange and entirely in character for the 2001 series: Christian imagery, impossible violence and cool restraint exploding into one last gothic image.
