JAN VALENTINE

Jan Valentine
JV

Hellsing · Antagonist

Luke's brother and the chaos to his control. Foul-mouthed, violent, deploys ghouls with the genuine enthusiasm of someone who is having the time of his life. The attack on Hellsing HQ is the original series' best set piece and Jan is the engine that gives it energy. Where Luke is the threat that demands to be taken seriously, Jan is the threat that makes the sequence move.

Episodes 5–6 · Brotherhood / Dead Zone

The Valentine assault is the moment Hellsing's secrecy and reputation stop protecting it. Jan leads armed ghouls into the headquarters while Luke goes looking for Alucard. The attack is crude compared with the conspiracy that follows, but devastatingly effective: Hellsing's own dead become part of the force attacking the survivors.

Episodes 5–6 · Brotherhood / Dead Zone · HQ Assault

Luke and Jan Valentine attack Hellsing headquarters with an armed ghoul force and nearly erase the organization's manpower in one night. Walter and Seras hold the building while Integra faces the attack at command level. Luke goes upstairs looking for the strongest opponent in the house and finds Alucard, who answers by releasing more of his restrained power. Jan reaches the Round Table but dies without giving Hellsing a clean explanation of who sent them. The victory leaves the organization alive and gutted.
