Seras and the Halconnen
2001 TV · Heavy Weapon for a Vampire Body
Open →
The Halconnen gives Seras a weapon sized for what her body is becoming rather than what it used to be. Walter equips her with a massive anti-vampire cannon that a normal human could not use practically, and the series makes the gun part of her transition into a Hellsing operative. Seras still resists the appetite and identity of vampirism, but she is already learning to use its physical advantages.
Helena: Immortality Without Romance
SPOILER!
2001 TV Original · Seras Foil
Open →
Helena exists only in the 2001 television continuity and gives Seras a version of vampirism with none of Alucard's swagger. Ancient in experience but permanently young in appearance, she lives surrounded by the evidence of time passing without her. Her role is small, but the idea is important: becoming a vampire is not automatically liberation or power. It can also mean surviving long after the shape of an ordinary life is gone.
